BESIXWatpac engaged Bowsers to deliver a comprehensive passive fire protection system for the structural steel of the new link bridge. This involved the application of high-performance fire-rated boards prior to installation, followed by Vermiculite fire spray post-installation. Measuring 12 metres long and 1.5 metres wide, the bridge required a carefully engineered, multi-layered fire protection system to achieve the specified fire-resistance rating and ensure full compliance.
Large-scale healthcare projects require strict compliance with safety standards and tight construction schedules. The bridge’s complex steel structure – including vertical and overhead elements – presented logistical challenges, particularly in accessing elevated areas. Achieving a consistent, high-quality finish involved meticulous planning and precise execution.
Bowsers deployed dual specialist teams with expertise in both fire-rated board installation and Vermiculite fire spray application. Carefully selected height-access systems enabled secure and streamlined operations at all working levels. Ongoing coordination with stakeholders and clear communication throughout the project ensured that all performance, aesthetic, and schedule requirements were met without compromise.
Bowsers successfully delivered a bespoke, high-performance fire protection system that fully met fire safety compliance standards. The project was completed on time, within budget, and to a consistently high-quality finish.
